Fish Tank History

Prompted by our cousin's new endeavor (namely Andrew starting up a new salt water tank) we thought we should post about our tank.

Kevin has been doing this for about four years now and loves it (he claims that it is his dorky side, but I love it). He started out with a 20 gallon reef tank, then added a 26 gallon bowfront to his collection. Once we got married we thought that we would consolidate and get a 65 gallon. Kev has had many fish, corals, starfish, anemones, clams, seahorses and much more.

Derasa Clam

Seahorse

Anemone

I will have Kevin take some current pictures of the tank and post them himself. We love our fish tank and all that is in it.

The fish tank is such a cool hobby... especially for visitors to your house :)

Be careful with the seahorse in the tank. The anemone could easy kill the seahorse, and seahorses and clams don't mix. A seahorse will often drape it's tail over the clam, the clam will close defensively, and often time neither make it out alive.

I strongly suggest checking out these articles on seahorses:

Dear Anonymous,
Thank you for your concern, but these are only a few pictures from my tanks that I have had in the past and they are not all from the same tank. I would never put an anemone and a seahorse together. However, I have succefullly kept seahorses and clams living together happily for years. I have never had an issue and know many others who never have had an issue either. My clams (I had 3 in my seahorse tank) were very accustomed to having the seahorse's tail drag accross their mantle and they did not mind at all. Thanks for your concern. I just wanted you to know that I love my tanks and I try to do my research to ensure their safety before I add them to my tank.
